Overview
This role involves supporting the Commercial Legal team focused on partnerships, integrations, APIs, and strategic alliances within a fast-scaling technology environment. The position requires negotiating complex legal agreements and developing scalable legal frameworks that enable commerce solutions globally.
Responsibilities
- Draft and negotiate complex commercial agreements including SaaS, partnerships, licensing, and API/SDK arrangements
- Support partnerships teams by managing strategic transactions and partnership agreements
- Identify and mitigate critical legal risks related to technology integrations, financial solutions, and payments
- Develop scalable legal frameworks, playbooks, and templates for partnership agreements
- Work on projects involving third-party marketplaces and application development by large partners (e.g., social media, aggregators)
- Manage API access agreements and developer ecosystem partnerships
Requirements
- J.D. or LL.B degree and license to practice law in any common law province in Canada or any U.S. state
- Substantial experience drafting and negotiating complex technology-related commercial agreements
- Strong expertise in SaaS and technology law
- Ability to thrive in dynamic, entrepreneurial, and fast-paced environments
- Excellent collaboration skills and ability to build trust with business partners
- Strong interest in creative legal problem-solving and researching novel legal areas
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with financial solutions and payments
- Expertise in privacy and data law
- Familiarity with contract management platforms such as Ironclad
- Background in regulatory or ecommerce law
- Experience working in high-growth technology companies
- Use of AI tools in legal services delivery
