Overview

A leading fintech organization specializing in instant digital payments is seeking a Commercial Attorney with expertise in financial services and payments. This role involves providing legal and compliance guidance to support business growth and risk management, working closely with General Counsel, Compliance, and Account Management teams.

Responsibilities

  • Draft, negotiate, and manage a variety of commercial contracts in collaboration with sales and account management teams
  • Support strategic initiatives to improve business efficiency and effectiveness
  • Provide legal expertise to compliance, data security, and privacy teams, including support for US and Canadian MSB subsidiaries
  • Advise on card network rules and regulations
  • Develop and maintain template agreements and manage the company’s forms file

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an ABA-accredited law school
  • Active membership in the California Bar
  • Minimum of 5 years legal experience in a law firm or fast-paced fintech, banking, payments, or financial services environment
  • Proven ability to draft, review, and negotiate commercial contracts
  • Familiarity with fintech-related commercial agreements, including payment systems and bank sponsorship arrangements
  • Knowledge of fintech regulations and card network rules is advantageous

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience at a top law firm, fintech company, or bank
  • Prior involvement with money transmitter processes and protocols across all U.S. states

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base salary: $250,000.00
