Overview
This role involves leading a team of commercial attorneys responsible for negotiating and drafting a wide range of third-party contracts, excluding those with financiers or investors. The team will also support the lending partnerships sales team. The position is remote with a preference for candidates operating within East or West Coast time zones.
Responsibilities
- Lead and rebuild a team of commercial attorneys.
- Negotiate, draft, and structure commercial contracts for all third-party engagements.
- Support the sales team on lending partnership agreements.
- Balance individual contributor duties with people management responsibilities.
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience practicing commercial transactions, including representing an in-house sales team.
- Experience managing a team of lawyers and legal professionals.
- Prior experience in both law firm and in-house legal roles.
- Excellent contract drafting and negotiation skills.
- Expertise in contract law.
- Experience placing and perfecting liens on assets.
Preferred Qualifications
- Banking and/or fintech commercial legal experience.
- 3+ years at a highly-regarded national law firm.
- 3+ years of in-house legal experience.
- Familiarity with data privacy issues.
- Knowledge of true lender and true sale legal issues.
- Admission to the California or New York Bar.
Compensation & Benefits
- Anticipated base salary range: $239,200 - $331,000 USD, dependent on geographic location, skills, experience, and education.
