Overview
An established healthcare organization is seeking an experienced healthcare attorney to serve as Assistant General Counsel focusing on Healthcare Regulatory matters. This role is ideal for a healthcare lawyer with prior in-house experience in a hospital or health system environment who wishes to advance their career within a large academic health system.
Responsibilities
- Research, develop, and collaborate with attorneys and stakeholders on regulatory analyses affecting the health system
- Provide legal advice and counsel on a variety of healthcare regulatory issues including patient care, HIPAA, EMTALA, medical staff matters, compliance, licensure, accreditation, and graduate medical education programs
- Draft and review contracts related to healthcare operations
- Support the drafting and implementation of policies and procedures
- Educate stakeholders on applicable laws, regulations, and policies
- Protect the institutional interests of the health system through sound legal guidance
Requirements
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school
- Active license to practice law in at least one state, with the ability to obtain New Hampshire State Bar licensure within one year of hire
- Three to five years of experience as a healthcare attorney, preferably with in-house counsel experience in a healthcare setting
- Significant experience researching, analyzing, and advising on healthcare regulatory matters
- Experience drafting and analyzing contracts for hospitals or health systems
- Strong legal writing and communication skills
- Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple projects independently
- Collaborative and customer service-oriented, able to work effectively with diverse stakeholders
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior in-house counsel experience within a hospital or health system environment
Compensation & Benefits
- This is a fully remote position
- The role requires onsite presence at the main office in Lebanon, NH twice per year
Location
- Remote with biannual visits to Lebanon, New Hampshire
