Overview
This role is for an Assistant General Counsel – Commercial to join a North American legal team supporting a dynamic, fast-paced business in the food, beverage, and pharmaceutical industries. The position involves providing strategic, business-focused legal guidance on a wide range of commercial matters and partnering closely with legal colleagues and cross-functional stakeholders.
The role is based in Beloit, Wisconsin, with a hybrid work arrangement preferred but remote considered.
Responsibilities
- Draft and negotiate commercial agreements including supply and customer agreements, vendor agreements, and co-manufacturing agreements.
- Analyze commercial contract provisions and provide updates, risk assessments, and legal guidance to business teams.
- Prepare and coordinate responses to customers, vendors, and other third parties regarding contractual matters.
- Monitor and stay current on developments in food-related laws and regulations.
Requirements
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
- Active license to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
- 5-10 years of in-house or large law firm corporate experience.
- Strong background in complex commercial contracts.
- Demonstrated interest in expanding experience in commercial legal areas.
- Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, unpredictable workflow while prioritizing effectively.
- High attention to detail and ability to interact successfully with business and legal teams, customers, and third parties.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, strong analytical skills, and ability to manage internal and external client relationships.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with food & beverage, food safety, chemicals, or regulatory matters.
Compensation & Benefits
- Annual salary range: $146,800.00 - $261,000.00.
- Compensation is performance-based and dependent on skills, qualifications, experience, internal equity, and location.
- Eligible for performance-based incentive compensation.
