Job Summary
The role provides legal advice and counsel to business units related to the operation of Federal government healthcare programs. Responsibilities include drafting, reviewing, and participating in the negotiation of contracts with subcontractors and other organizations to ensure compliance with prime contract and regulatory requirements while managing acceptable risk levels. Experience with federal healthcare programs, HIPAA, and Department of War (DoW) or Veterans Affairs (VA) procurement is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Identify and analyze legal issues, conduct legal research, and present clear recommendations to ensure legal compliance.
- Advise internal stakeholders and lead the development and negotiation of subcontracts, memoranda of understanding, vendor contracts, teaming agreements, and other agreements supporting federal government program administration.
- Provide general legal advice on a broad range of operational issues.
- Assist departments and committees with legal advice as assigned.
- Review and develop various legal documents and contracts.
- Collaborate with colleagues across the legal department.
- Draft and review miscellaneous legal documents and correspondence.
- Research current issues and developments related to government contracts, programs, and regulatory impacts.
- Assist with the development and monitoring of internal regulatory compliance procedures.
- Review routine and priority correspondence and communications.
- Participate in standing and ad hoc committees as a legal representative.
- Support training and implementation efforts to ensure legal compliance.
- Review and revise company policies and procedures.
- Ensure employees and committee members comply with applicable laws and regulations.
- Educate staff and committee members on legal requirements.
- Advise senior leadership on legal ramifications of past and proposed actions.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Maintain regular and reliable attendance.
Requirements
- Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school.
- License to practice law in a U.S. state or the District of Columbia.
- Minimum of 4 years of legal experience in a medium to large law firm, or in-house within a corporate or government entity.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, negotiation skills, and ability to drive results.
- Extensive experience with contract clauses, including intellectual property and general business terms, with the ability to review and negotiate contractual terms effectively.
- Familiarity with Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR), Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS), or Veterans Affairs Acquisition Regulation (VAAR) clauses.
- Ability to provide timely and responsive legal support for business contacts located in the Mountain Time Zone.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with government-funded healthcare programs.
- Experience advising federal government contractors or similar experience with federal procurements.
- Experience advising managed care administrators, health plans, or healthcare providers.
- Experience practicing law in the Judge Advocate General's (JAG) Corps of any military branch or representing the Department of War or Department of Veterans Affairs.

Compensation & Benefits
- Salary range typically between $209,000 and $233,000 per year, varying by role and location.
