Overview
An attorney is needed to assist in developing office and state practice in North Carolina and to oversee collection litigation for the states. The role involves managing a high-volume docket of civil litigation cases in debt collection through all phases of litigation, from commencement through post-judgment actions.
Responsibilities
- Handle full litigation responsibilities including reviewing correspondence and files to determine suit appropriateness.
- Review and/or approve all pleadings, motions, and discovery.
- Attend all types of hearings and trials in a high-volume environment.
- Prepare legal forms and develop processes.
- Perform legal research related to creditors' rights and consumer laws (both state and federal).
- Manage post-judgment remedies including attachment and garnishment.
Requirements
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree.
- Bar admission in North Carolina is required; preference given to attorneys licensed in both North Carolina and South Carolina.
- 3 to 5 years of experience as a general litigation attorney.
- Substantial courtroom experience in creditors’ rights and consumer laws.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize and organize high volumes of information.
- Ability to work effectively in a deadline-driven environment.
- Ability to interact effectively with individuals at all organizational levels.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in creditor’s rights litigation.
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Frequent talking, hearing, and use of hands for typing and handling objects.
- Regular standing and walking; occasional stooping, bending, or reaching above the shoulders.
- Ability to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to access and navigate all departments at the organization’s facilities.
Work Environment
- This is a remote position.
Schedule
- Full-time, 8-hour shift Monday to Friday with flexibility to support business needs.
