Overview
A full-service creditor's rights law firm with a national bankruptcy practice is seeking a remote Associate Attorney with experience representing secured creditors in consumer Chapter 7, 11, and 13 bankruptcy cases. Ideal candidates will be located in Baltimore, Maryland. A license to practice law in Maryland is required.
Responsibilities
- Manage routine bankruptcy matters primarily
- Draft and review pleadings and claims related to bankruptcy cases
- Attend scheduled hearings
- Respond to firm-wide bankruptcy inquiries
- Review filings on behalf of clients
- Monitor all electronic filings (ECFs)
- Resolve routine bankruptcy matters such as Motions for Relief, Objections to Confirmation, Proofs of Claim, etc.
- Maintain regular communication with clients, opposing counsel, and the Court
Requirements
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree
- Licensed to practice law in Maryland
- Admission to District and/or Bankruptcy Courts in Maryland
- Working knowledge of the Bankruptcy Code and Federal Rules of Bankruptcy Procedure
- Knowledge of bankruptcy rules/laws and general creditor rights laws
- Computer literacy and strong keyboard skills
- Attention to detail and professionalism
- Effective time management and communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience representing secured creditors in consumer bankruptcy cases
- Team-oriented mindset; open to training candidates with less experience who demonstrate potential
