Overview
This role is for an attorney licensed in New Mexico with experience working remotely in General Liability and Medical Malpractice defense.
The position supports defense of Medical Malpractice actions within a General Liability practice group. Responsibilities span all stages of litigation, from initial claims handling through mediation, arbitration, trial, and appeal.
Responsibilities
- Review and prepare summaries of medical records to support client advocacy
- Draft motions and attend hearings in court
- Prepare clients for depositions and attend depositions as needed
- Draft and contribute to litigation documents, including:
- initial reports
- interim reports
- pre-trial reports
- trial materials
- appellate activity
- Respond to discovery requests and draft discovery-related motions
- Regularly attend court appearances
- Take and defend depositions of fact witnesses and expert witnesses
Requirements
- Admitted to practice in New Mexico
- Ability to work efficiently in a remote setting
- Analytical and problem-solving skills to manage complex legal issues
- Excellent research skills
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Ability to draft and respond to discovery-related motions
- Experience regularly attending court appearances
- Experience taking and defending depositions of fact witnesses and expert witnesses
- Ability to draft motions for summary judgments
