This role is for a full-time Associate Attorney with a consumer protection law practice representing consumers who have been harassed or otherwise deceived by creditors and debt collectors.
Because the firm’s headquarters are in New York, this position involves communicating with the main office exclusively via telephone and electronic means (email, Microsoft Teams, etc.).
Eligibility/Location requirement: Candidates should be within commutable distance or currently located in Boca Raton, FL to be considered.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and supervise a heavy and diversified caseload of the firm’s clients in Florida
- Communicate with clients regarding their respective matters
- Draft pleadings, motions, and legal memoranda; review and draft agreements; and prepare other legal documents as needed
- Communicate with opposing parties to resolve and/or settle claims
- Conduct legal research on simple and complex issues in contract law and other areas of consumer law
- Work remotely; may be required to travel for in-court appearances
Requirements
- Currently admitted to practice law in Florida
- Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience at a law firm
- Superior organizational and time-management skills to meet strict deadlines
- Exceptional written and oral communication skills
- Highest ethical standards and professional integrity
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with senior management and employees at all levels
- Strong legal research skills (proficiency in LexisNexis is a plus)
