Overview
A multistate Creditor's Rights law firm headquartered in Brookfield, Wisconsin, is seeking an Associate Attorney with one to five years of experience to join their Wyoming or Montana practice. This role involves handling all aspects of litigation related to debt collection matters, with some work-related travel expected.
Responsibilities
- Review correspondence and case files to determine suitability for suit
- Review answers, prepare discovery and dispositive motions
- Prepare for and conduct trials
- Represent clients in pre-judgment and post-judgment matters
- Attend court hearings
- Provide analysis and advice on legal and regulatory risks
- Stay current with state and federal consumer laws and local rules
- Manage own caseload effectively
Requirements
- Licensed to practice law in Wyoming or Montana, with ability to obtain additional licenses
- 1-5 years of experience in civil litigation, including court proceedings
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local laws with ability to analyze case law and provide recommendations
- Experience in collection law and/or significant courtroom experience preferred
- Ability to draft legal pleadings, motions, discovery, stipulations, and other legal documents
- Familiarity with Bankruptcy Law, Foreclosure Law, or FDCPA/FCRA/TCPA is a plus
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to prioritize and organize large volumes of information
- Ability to work in a deadline-driven environment
- Professional appearance and positive representation of the firm
- Ability to interact effectively with all organizational levels
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods of sitting and working on a computer
- Frequent talking, hearing, and use of hands for typing and handling objects
- Occasional standing, walking, stooping, bending, or reaching above shoulders
- Ability to occasionally lift up to 10 pounds
Work Environment
- Remote position, based anywhere in the United States
Schedule
- Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with flexibility to meet business needs
Compensation and Benefits
- Salary range: $75,000 to $80,000 per year
