Overview
This role is for a remote Associate Attorney position with the organization’s creditors’ rights and real estate practice. The employer is seeking a North Carolina licensed attorney with some real property law experience.
This position involves learning multiple practice areas and demonstrating the ability to meet performance expectations. Growth opportunities are available based on performance.
Responsibilities
- Represent clients in all stages of the foreclosure process, including contested foreclosures and real estate litigation.
- Review conditions precedent to filing, including loan documents, financials, and demand letters.
- Conduct comprehensive title reviews to identify title defects, missing links in chain of title, or encumbrances, and execute necessary corrective legal actions.
- Draft and review legal documents, pleadings, and correspondence to initiate and maintain foreclosure actions.
- Research and analyze applicable statutes, case law, regulatory requirements, and servicing requirements.
- Perform legal research and legal writing.
- Attend court hearings and communicate with opposing counsel.
- Ensure internal client systems are reviewed and updated to include findings, documentation, and recommendations.
- Maintain a high degree of confidentiality and professionalism.
- Prioritize and complete a high volume of work to meet firm, client, investor, and court deadlines.
- Use firm and client systems to ensure applicable deadlines are met.
- Safeguard compliance with local, state, and federal foreclosure, bankruptcy, and collections requirements, as applicable.
Requirements
- Admission to the North Carolina State Bar is required.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Ability to prioritize workloads to meet deadlines.
- Meticulous attention to detail and the ability to produce accurate, high-quality work product in a fast-paced, volume-based environment.

- Strong interpersonal and analytical skills.
- Demonstrated experience in title review and ability to analyze corrective title action opportunities.
- Intermediate to advanced computer proficiency (including Microsoft Office products) and general office skills.

Preferred Qualifications
- Admission to federal and bankruptcy courts in North Carolina.
- Prior foreclosure experience.
- Previous experience with electronic case management and client systems.
- Basic principles of Quality Assurance and/or Quality Control strongly preferred.
