Overview

A growing litigation firm in California is seeking a Litigation Associate with 3+ years of insurance defense experience, preferably with a focus on employment defense. This role offers hands-on litigation experience, meaningful case work, and opportunities for professional growth within a flexible hybrid work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Develop effective case strategies that focus on results
  • Manage court appearances, depositions, motion practice, and trials independently
  • Collaborate with attorneys and staff across experience levels
  • Maintain professional and consistent communication with clients
  • Build and maintain relationships with existing and prospective clients
  • Mentor junior attorneys and contribute to team development

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school
  • Active California Bar license
  • 3 to 7 years of litigation experience, including case strategy, depositions, and trial preparation
  • Strong preference for 2+ years of employment defense experience
  • Ability to independently manage a full caseload from discovery through trial
  • Prior insurance defense experience preferred
  • Familiarity with litigation timekeeping and billing systems
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint
  • Self-motivated with strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Professional appearance and demeanor

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base salary range: $115,000 to $160,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications
  • Annual billable hours bonus starting at $10,000, with additional bonuses of $7,500 for each higher tier
