Overview
A consumer protection law firm based in the Financial District of New York City is seeking a full-time Associate Attorney to join their practice in Virginia. The firm represents consumers who have been harassed or deceived by creditors and debt collectors. This role offers the opportunity to work on a variety of legal issues related to consumer protection, including transactional and civil litigation matters.
Location
- Position requires candidates to be located in or within a commutable distance to Fairfax, Virginia.
- The role is remote but requires travel for court appearances.
Compensation
Responsibilities
- Manage and supervise a heavy and diversified caseload of clients in Virginia.
- Communicate with clients regarding their legal matters.
- Draft pleadings, motions, legal memoranda, and review and draft agreements.
- Communicate with opposing parties to resolve or settle claims.
- Conduct legal research on contract law and other consumer law issues.
- Coordinate with the main office via telephone and electronic communication (e-mail, Microsoft Teams).
Requirements
- Must be currently admitted to practice law in Virginia.
- Minimum of 1 year of relevant law firm experience.
- Superior organizational and time-management skills to meet strict deadlines.
- Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
- Highest ethical standards and professional integrity.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with senior management and employees at all levels.
- Strong legal research skills; proficiency in LexisNexis is a plus.
