Overview
This attorney role supports office and state practice in North Carolina, with responsibility for overseeing collection litigation for the states. The position involves substantial courtroom experience in creditors’ rights and consumer law (state and federal), legal research, and drafting forms, along with administrative responsibilities such as preparing forms and developing processes.
The role includes full litigation duties, including correspondence and file review to determine whether matters are suit appropriate, review and/or approval of pleadings, motions, and discovery, and attendance at hearings and trials in a high-volume environment. Knowledge of post-judgment remedies (including attachment and garnishment) is required, and the attorney will manage a high-volume docket from commencement through post-judgment actions.
Responsibilities
- Handle courtroom litigation with substantial experience in creditors’ rights and consumer laws (state and federal)
- Draft forms and conduct legal research
- Prepare forms and develop processes (administrative responsibilities)
- Perform full litigation case responsibilities, including:
- Review of correspondence
- Review of files to determine whether they are suit appropriate
- Review and/or approval of pleadings, motions, and discovery
- Attend all types of hearings and trials in a high-volume environment
- Apply post-judgment remedies, including attachment and garnishment
- Manage a high-volume docket of civil debt-collection cases through all phases of litigation, from commencement through post-judgment actions
Requirements
- Bar admission in North Carolina
- Preference will be given to attorneys licensed in both North Carolina and South Carolina
- Juris Doctor (JD) law degree
- 3 to 5 years of experience as a general litigation attorney
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to prioritize and organize high volumes of information
- Ability to work in a deadline-driven environment
- Ability to interact effectively with people at all organizational levels of the firm

Location
- Remote position, based in North Carolina
Schedule
- 8-hour shift, Monday to Friday with flexibility to support business needs
