Associate Attorney, Jacksonville, FL

Overview

A consumer protection law firm specializing in representing clients who have been harassed or deceived by creditors and debt collectors is seeking a full-time Associate Attorney to join its Florida practice. The firm is based in the Financial District of New York City but this position is remote with a requirement to be located within commutable distance to Jacksonville, FL.

Responsibilities

• Manage and supervise a heavy and diversified caseload of clients in Florida
• Communicate regularly with clients regarding their legal matters
• Draft pleadings, motions, legal memoranda, and review and draft agreements
• Negotiate and communicate with opposing parties to resolve or settle claims
• Conduct legal research on contract law and other consumer law issues
• Attend court appearances as required (travel may be necessary despite remote work)

Requirements

• Admission to practice law in Florida is mandatory
• Minimum of 1 year of relevant law firm experience
• Strong organizational and time-management skills to meet strict deadlines
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• High ethical standards and professional integrity
• Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively with senior management and colleagues
• Proficient legal research skills; experience with LexisNexis is a plus

Compensation & Benefits

• Annual salary of $90,000
