Overview

The organization is seeking a North Carolina licensed Associate Attorney with some real property law experience to work remotely. This role supports attorneys across creditors’ rights and real estate practice areas, with the opportunity to learn multiple disciplines and grow based on performance.

Admission to the North Carolina State Bar is required. Admission to federal and bankruptcy courts in North Carolina is a plus, as is prior foreclosure experience.

Responsibilities

  • Represent clients in all stages of the foreclosure process, including contested foreclosures and real estate litigation.
  • Review all conditions precedent to filing an action, including loan documents, financials, and demand letters.
  • Conduct comprehensive title reviews to identify title defects, missing links in the chain of title, or encumbrances, and execute necessary corrective legal actions.
  • Draft and review legal documents, pleadings, and correspondence to initiate and maintain foreclosure actions.
  • Research and analyze applicable statutes, case law, regulatory, and servicing requirements.
  • Perform legal research and writing.
  • Attend court hearings and communicate with opposing counsel.
  • Ensure internal client systems are reviewed and updated with findings, documentation, and recommendations.
  • Maintain a high degree of confidentiality and professionalism.
  • Prioritize and complete a high volume of work to meet firm, client, investor, and court deadlines.
  • Use firm and client systems to ensure applicable deadlines are met.
  • Safeguard compliance with local, state, and federal foreclosure, bankruptcy, and collections requirements, as applicable.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience in title review and the ability to analyze corrective title action opportunities.
  • Intermediate to advanced computer proficiency (including Microsoft Office products) and general office skills.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to effectively communicate through both verbal and written electronic correspondence.
  • Meticulous analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Exceptional organizational skills.
  • Strong ability to analyze corrective action opportunities and present recommendations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience with electronic case management and client systems.
  • Prior foreclosure experience.
  • Admission to federal and bankruptcy courts in North Carolina.
  • Basic principles of Quality Assurance and/or Quality Control.

Education and Training

  • Juris Doctor.
  • Bar membership in North Carolina.

Compensation & Benefits

Compensation will be commensurate with experience and includes the benefits package.

This role requires the candidate to be located within North Carolina and to be North Carolina State Bar admitted.
