Overview

A consumer protection law firm based in the Financial District of New York City is seeking a full-time Associate Attorney to join their practice in Kansas. The firm represents consumers who have been harassed or deceived by creditors and debt collectors. This role offers the opportunity to work on a variety of legal issues related to consumer protection, including transactional and civil litigation matters.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and supervise a heavy and diversified caseload of clients in Kansas
  • Communicate with clients regarding their legal matters
  • Draft pleadings, motions, legal memoranda, and review and draft agreements
  • Communicate with opposing parties to resolve or settle claims
  • Conduct legal research on contract law and other consumer law issues
  • Attend court appearances as required (role is primarily remote but may require travel)
  • Coordinate with the main office via telephone and electronic communication tools

Requirements

  • Must be currently admitted to practice law in Kansas (admission in multiple states is a plus)
  • Minimum of 1 year of relevant law firm experience
  • Superior organizational and time-management skills to meet strict deadlines
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills
  • Highest ethical standards and professional integrity
  • Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively with senior management and colleagues
  • Proficient legal research skills; experience with LexisNexis is a plus
  • Candidates must be currently located in Kansas to be considered
