Overview
A consumer protection law firm specializing in representing clients who have been harassed or deceived by creditors and debt collectors is seeking a full-time Associate Attorney. The firm is based in the Financial District of New York City but this position is remote and focused on serving clients in Maine.
Responsibilities
- Manage and supervise a heavy and diversified caseload of clients located in Maine
- Communicate regularly with clients regarding their legal matters
- Draft pleadings, motions, legal memoranda, and review and draft agreements
- Negotiate and communicate with opposing parties to resolve or settle claims
- Conduct legal research on contract law and other consumer law issues
- Attend court appearances in person as required (travel necessary despite remote work)
Requirements
- Admission to practice law in the state of Maine is mandatory
- Minimum of 1 year of relevant law firm experience
- Strong organizational and time-management skills to meet strict deadlines
- Excellent written and oral communication abilities
- High ethical standards and professional integrity
- Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with senior management and colleagues
- Proficient legal research skills; experience with LexisNexis is a plus
- Must currently reside in Maine to be considered
Compensation & Benefits
- Annual salary of $90,000, competitive and commensurate with experience
