Overview
This role is for a North Carolina licensed Associate Attorney to support creditors’ rights and real estate legal matters. The position is remote and is focused on foreclosure-related work, including contested foreclosures and related real estate litigation.
The employer is a national law firm providing full-service creditors’ rights and real estate legal services at both the state and federal level in 18 states.
Responsibilities
- Represent clients in all stages of the foreclosure process, including contested foreclosures and real estate litigation.
- Perform comprehensive review of all conditions precedent to filing, including review of loan documents, financials, and demand letters.
- Conduct comprehensive title reviews to identify title defects, missing links in the chain of title, or encumbrances, and execute necessary corrective legal actions.
- Draft and review legal documents, pleadings, and correspondence to initiate and maintain foreclosure actions.
- Research and analyze applicable statutes, case law, regulatory requirements, and servicing requirements.
- Complete legal research and writing.
- Attend court hearings and communicate with opposing counsel.
- Review and update internal client systems to include findings, documentation, and recommendations.
- Maintain a high degree of confidentiality and professionalism.
- Prioritize and perform a high volume of work to meet firm, client, investor, and court deadlines.
- Use firm and client systems to ensure all applicable deadlines are met.
- Safeguard compliance with local, state, and federal foreclosure, bankruptcy, and collections requirements, as applicable.
Requirements
- Admission to the North Carolina State Bar.
- Demonstrated experience in title review and the ability to analyze corrective title action opportunities.
- Intermediate to advanced-level computer proficiency (including Microsoft Office products) and general office skills.
- Ability to effectively communicate through verbal and written electronic correspondence.

Preferred Qualifications
- Admission to federal and bankruptcy courts in North Carolina.
- Prior foreclosure experience.
- Previous experience with electronic case management and client systems.
- Basic principles of Quality Assurance and/or Quality Control strongly preferred.
Education and Training
- Juris Doctor (J.D.).
- Bar membership in North Carolina.
