Overview

This role is for a full-time Associate Attorney to join a consumer protection law practice.

  • Department: Legal – Attorney
  • Location: Remote (working from home; travel required for court appearances)
  • Work Location Requirement: Must be located in or within a commutable distance to Metro Detroit, MI

Because the organization’s headquarters are in New York, this position involves communicating with the main office exclusively via telephone and electronic means (e.g., email, Microsoft Teams).

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and supervise a heavy and diversified caseload of clients in Michigan.
  • Communicate with clients regarding their respective matters.
  • Draft pleadings, motions, and legal memoranda; review and draft agreements.
  • Communicate with opposing parties to resolve and/or settle claims.
  • Conduct legal research related to simple and complex issues in contract law and other areas of consumer law.
  • Travel for in-court appearances as required.

Requirements

  • Currently admitted to practice law in Michigan.
  • Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience at a law firm.
  • Superior organizational and time-management skills to meet strict deadlines.
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
  • Highest ethical standards and professional integrity.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with senior management and employees at all levels.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong legal research skills; proficiency in LexisNexis is a plus.
