Compensation: $90,000 / year
This role supports a consumer protection law practice representing consumers who have been harassed or otherwise deceived by creditors and debt collectors. The position involves handling a heavy, diversified caseload and provides exposure to a range of consumer protection issues, including transactional and civil litigation matters.
Because the firm’s headquarters are in New York, communication with the main office will be handled exclusively by telephone and electronic means (e.g., email, Microsoft Teams).
Responsibilities
- Maintain and supervise a heavy and diversified caseload of clients in Florida
- Communicate with clients regarding their respective matters
- Draft pleadings, motions, and legal memoranda; review and draft agreements; and perform related drafting work
- Communicate with opposing parties to resolve and/or settle claims
- Conduct legal research related to simple and complex issues in contract law and other areas of consumer law
- Work remotely; may be required to travel for in-court appearances
Requirements
- Currently admitted to practice law in Florida
- Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience at a law firm
- Superior organizational and time-management skills to meet strict deadlines
- Exceptional written and oral communication skills
- Highest ethical standards and professional integrity
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with senior management and employees at all levels
- Strong legal research skills (proficiency in LexisNexis is a plus)
