Overview

A consumer protection law firm based in the Financial District of New York City is seeking a full-time Associate Attorney to join their practice focused on New Jersey clients. The firm represents consumers who have been harassed or deceived by creditors and debt collectors. This role offers exposure to a variety of legal issues in consumer protection, including transactional and civil litigation matters.

Location: Remote (Candidates must be currently located within the state of New Jersey)

Compensation: $90,000 per year

Responsibilities

  • Manage and supervise a heavy and diversified caseload of clients in New Jersey
  • Communicate with clients regarding their legal matters
  • Draft pleadings, motions, legal memoranda, and review and draft agreements
  • Communicate with opposing parties to resolve or settle claims
  • Conduct legal research on simple and complex issues in contract law and other areas of consumer law
  • Travel as required for court appearances
  • Coordinate with the main office via telephone and electronic communication (email, Microsoft Teams, etc.)

Requirements

  • Admission to practice law in New Jersey
  • Minimum of 1 year of relevant law firm experience
  • Superior organizational and time-management skills to meet strict deadlines
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills
  • Highest ethical standards and professional integrity
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with senior management and colleagues at all levels
  • Strong legal research skills; proficiency in LexisNexis is a plus

Location

This is a remote position; however, candidates must be currently located within New Jersey and able to travel for court appearances as needed.
