The organization provides consumer protection representation to individuals who have been harassed or otherwise deceived by creditors and debt collectors. This role involves broad responsibilities and exposure to a range of consumer protection legal issues, including transactional and civil litigation matters.
Associate Attorney (New Jersey)
The organization is seeking a full-time Associate Attorney to join its practice in New Jersey.
Candidates must be currently located within the state of New Jersey to be considered for this role.
Because headquarters are in New York, this position requires communicating with the main office exclusively via telephone and electronic means (e-mail, Microsoft Teams, etc.).
Responsibilities
- Maintain and supervise a heavy and diversified caseload of the firm’s clients in New Jersey
- Communicate with clients regarding their respective matters
- Draft pleadings, motions, and legal memoranda; review and draft agreements, etc.
- Communicate with opposing parties to resolve and settle claims
- Conduct legal research related to simple and complex issues in contract law and other areas of consumer law
- While working from home, travel for in-court appearances
Requirements
- Currently admitted to practice law in New Jersey
- Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience at a law firm
- Superior organizational and time-management skills to meet strict deadlines
- Exceptional written and oral communication skills
- Highest ethical standards and professional integrity
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with senior management and employees at all levels
- Strong legal research skills; proficiency in LexisNexis is a plus
