Overview
A consumer protection law firm specializing in representing consumers against harassment and deceptive practices by creditors and debt collectors is seeking a full-time Associate Attorney. The firm is based in the Financial District of New York City but this position is remote, focused on handling cases in New Mexico.
Responsibilities
- Manage and supervise a heavy and diverse caseload of clients in New Mexico.
- Communicate regularly with clients regarding their legal matters.
- Draft pleadings, motions, legal memoranda, and review and draft agreements.
- Negotiate and communicate with opposing parties to resolve or settle claims.
- Conduct legal research on contract law and other consumer law issues.
- Attend court appearances as required, which may involve travel.
Requirements
- Admission to practice law in New Mexico is mandatory.
- Minimum of 1 year of relevant law firm experience.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills to meet strict deadlines.
- Excellent written and oral communication abilities.
- High ethical standards and professional integrity.
- Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with senior management and colleagues.
- Proficiency in legal research; experience with LexisNexis is a plus.
