Overview

The organization is seeking a North Carolina licensed Associate Attorney with some real property law experience. This role is remote. The position supports creditors’ rights and real estate legal services across state and federal matters.

Responsibilities

  • Represent clients in all stages of the foreclosure process, including contested foreclosures and real estate litigation.
  • Review conditions precedent to filing actions, including loan documents, financials, and demand letters.
  • Conduct comprehensive title reviews to identify title defects, missing links in chain of title, or encumbrances, and execute necessary corrective legal actions.
  • Draft and review legal documents, pleadings, and correspondence to initiate and maintain foreclosure actions.
  • Research and analyze applicable statutes, case law, regulatory requirements, and servicing requirements.
  • Perform legal research and writing.
  • Attend court hearings and communicate with opposing counsel.
  • Ensure internal client systems are reviewed and updated to include findings, documentation, and recommendations.
  • Maintain a high degree of confidentiality and professionalism.
  • Prioritize and complete a high volume of work to meet firm, client, investor, and court deadlines.
  • Use firm and client systems to ensure applicable deadlines are met.
  • Safeguard compliance with local, state, and federal foreclosure, bankruptcy, and collections requirements, as applicable.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience in title review and the ability to analyze corrective title action opportunities.
  • Intermediate to advanced-level computer proficiency (including Microsoft Office products) and general office skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to effectively communicate through verbal and written electronic correspondence.
  • Meticulous analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Exceptional organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • North Carolina State Bar admission is required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Admission to federal and bankruptcy courts in North Carolina.
  • Prior foreclosure experience.
  • Previous experience with electronic case management and client systems.
  • Basic principles of Quality Assurance and/or Quality Control strongly preferred.

Education and Training

  • Juris Doctor.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Compensation will be commensurate with experience and includes the benefits package.
