Overview
An established California workers' compensation defense law firm is seeking an Associate Attorney to join their industry-leading training and onboarding program starting September 1, 2026. This full-time remote position requires residency in California.
The program is designed for attorneys with little to no workers' compensation experience and provides a structured pathway to develop foundational knowledge, professional confidence, and long-term success in workers' compensation defense. The training includes live instruction, practical application, mentorship, and ongoing professional support.
Responsibilities
- Manage the legal defense of workers' compensation cases from inception through final resolution
- Handle all aspects of discovery and litigation
- Collaborate closely with insurance companies, employers, and third-party administrators
- Participate in a structured training and mentorship program under senior attorneys
Requirements
- Juris Doctor (JD) and Bachelor's degree
- Active membership in the State Bar of California
- Superior research, analytical, and negotiation skills
- Excellent written and oral communication abilities
- Commitment to proactive case management
- Experience with Merus and/or Litify preferred but not required
- Familiarity with Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Teams preferred but not required

- 0 to 2 years of workers' compensation defense experience
