Overview
This role is for a North Carolina licensed attorney with some real property law experience. Work is remote. The position provides an opportunity to learn and become familiar with multiple practice areas while demonstrating the ability to meet performance expectations. Admission to the North Carolina State Bar is required. Admission to federal and bankruptcy courts in North Carolina is a plus, as is prior foreclosure experience.
Compensation will be commensurate with experience and includes the organization’s benefits package. The candidate must be located within North Carolina.
Responsibilities
- Represent clients in all stages of the foreclosure process, including contested foreclosures and real estate litigation.
- Review conditions precedent to filing of the action, including loan documents, financials, and demand letters.
- Conduct comprehensive title reviews to identify title defects, missing links in chain of title, or encumbrances, and execute necessary corrective legal actions.
- Draft and review legal documents, pleadings, and correspondence to initiate and maintain foreclosure actions.
- Research and analyze applicable statutes, case law, regulatory requirements, and servicing requirements.
- Perform legal research and writing.
- Attend court hearings and communicate with opposing counsel.
- Ensure internal client systems are reviewed and updated with findings, documentation, and recommendations.
- Maintain a high degree of confidentiality and professionalism.
- Prioritize and complete high volumes of work to meet firm, client, investor, and court deadlines.
- Use firm and client systems to ensure all applicable deadlines are met.
- Safeguard compliance with local, state, and federal foreclosure, bankruptcy, and collections requirements, as applicable.
Requirements
- Experience in title review and the ability to analyze corrective title action opportunities.
- Intermediate to advanced computer proficiency (including Microsoft Office products) and general office skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Ability to effectively communicate through verbal and written electronic correspondence.

Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience with electronic case management and client systems.
- Admission to federal and bankruptcy courts in North Carolina.
- Prior foreclosure experience.
- Basic principles of Quality Assurance and/or Quality Control strongly preferred.
Education and Training
- Juris Doctor.
- Bar membership in North Carolina.
