Overview

A consumer protection law firm specializing in representing clients who have been harassed or deceived by creditors and debt collectors is seeking a full-time Associate Attorney. The firm is based in the Financial District of New York City but this position is remote, serving clients in Ohio.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and supervise a heavy and diversified caseload of clients in Ohio.
  • Communicate regularly with clients regarding their legal matters.
  • Draft pleadings, motions, legal memoranda, and review and draft agreements.
  • Negotiate and communicate with opposing parties to resolve or settle claims.
  • Conduct legal research on contract law and other consumer law issues.
  • Attend court appearances as required (travel may be necessary).

Requirements

  • Admission to practice law in Ohio is mandatory.
  • Minimum of 1 year of relevant law firm experience.
  • Superior organizational and time-management skills to meet strict deadlines.
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
  • High ethical standards and professional integrity.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with senior management and colleagues at all levels.
  • Proficient legal research skills; experience with LexisNexis is a plus.
  • Candidates must currently reside in or near the Toledo, Ohio area.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Annual salary of $90,000, competitive and commensurate with experience.

Location

  • Remote position serving clients in Ohio.
  • Must be located in or near Toledo, Ohio.
  • Communication with the main office in New York will be conducted via telephone and electronic means (email, Microsoft Teams, etc.).
