This role involves representing consumers in matters involving creditors and debt collectors, including transactional and civil litigation. The organization’s headquarters are in New York, so communication with the main office will be handled exclusively via telephone and electronic means (e-mail, Microsoft Teams, etc.).
Associate Attorney
The organization is seeking a full-time Associate Attorney to join its practice in Ohio.
Candidates must be currently located in our surrounding the Toledo, Ohio area to be considered for this position.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and supervise a heavy and diversified caseload of clients in Ohio.
- Communicate with clients regarding their respective matters.
- Draft pleadings, motions, legal memoranda, and review and draft agreements.
- Communicate with opposing parties to resolve or settle claims.
- Conduct legal research on simple and complex issues in contract law and other areas of consumer law.
- Work from home, with travel required for in-court appearances.
- Communicate with the main office exclusively via telephone and electronic means (e-mail, Microsoft Teams, etc.).
Requirements
- Currently admitted to practice law in Ohio.
- Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience at a law firm.
- Superior organizational and time-management skills to meet strict deadlines.
- Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
- Highest ethical standards and professional integrity.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work easily with senior management and employees at all levels.
- Strong legal research skills; proficiency in LexisNexis is a plus.
Compensation & Benefits
- Compensation: $90,000 / year (competitive and commensurate with expertise and previous experience).
