This organization is seeking a full-time Associate Attorney to join its consumer protection practice in Michigan.

Location & Travel Requirements

  • Candidates must be located in or within a commutable distance to Traverse City, MI to be considered for this role.
  • Although this role is based from home, you will be required to travel for in-court appearances.
  • Because the organization’s headquarters are in New York, this position entails communicating with the main office exclusively via telephone and electronic means (e-mail, Microsoft Teams, etc.).

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and supervise a heavy and diversified caseload of firm clients in Michigan.
  • Communicate with clients regarding their respective matters.
  • Draft pleadings, motions, and legal memoranda.
  • Review and draft agreements.
  • Communicate with opposing parties to resolve and/or settle claims.
  • Conduct legal research related to simple and complex issues in contract law and other areas of consumer law.

Requirements

  • Currently admitted to practice law in Michigan.
  • Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience at a law firm.
  • Superior organizational and time-management skills to meet strict deadlines.
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
  • Highest ethical standards and professional integrity.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with senior management and employees at all levels.
  • Strong legal research skills; proficiency in LexisNexis is a plus.
