Overview

A California-based workers’ compensation defense law firm is seeking Associate Attorneys with 1 to 7 years of substantive workers’ compensation defense experience. This full-remote position is open to candidates located in California, including Agoura Hills, Oxnard, Encino, Inland Empire, Long Beach, Orange County, Sacramento, and San Diego. Occasional travel for hearings may be required, with in-office attendance optional.

Responsibilities

  • Represent employers and insurers in workers’ compensation matters
  • Conduct legal research and draft pleadings, motions, and other legal documents
  • Attend hearings, depositions, and mediations as needed
  • Negotiate settlements on behalf of clients
  • Manage caseloads efficiently while adhering to firm procedures and deadlines
  • Collaborate with attorneys, staff, and clients to develop case strategy
  • Build and maintain strong professional relationships with clients and colleagues

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (JD) or Master of Laws (LLM) from an accredited law school with an excellent academic record
  • Active California Bar admission in good standing
  • 1 to 7 years of substantive workers’ compensation defense experience required
  • Experience representing employers and insurers in workers’ compensation proceedings
  • Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills
  • Ability to identify and analyze complex legal issues and develop effective solutions
  • Highly organized with strong time management and prioritization skills
  • Comfortable working in a paperless, technology-forward practice environment
  • Proactive, client-focused professional with strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively across teams

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in a collaborative legal environment
  • Familiarity with workers’ compensation defense procedures and case management

Compensation & Benefits

  • Competitive annual base salary ranging from $100,000 to $220,000, based on experience and qualifications
