Overview
A growing commercial real estate services team is seeking an Associate Commercial Underwriting Counsel to provide legal and underwriting support for real estate title insurance commitments and policies. This role involves applying legal expertise and risk analysis to commercial real estate transactions, collaborating with internal teams and customers to deliver solutions.
This position is hybrid based in the Phoenix office for local candidates, with remote options considered for out-of-area applicants.
Responsibilities
- Provide underwriting support, legal counsel, and authorization related to issuance of real estate title insurance commitments and policies
- Apply underwriting standards and guidelines within delegated authority limits to underwrite title insurance issuance
- Guide company personnel in performing real estate settlement services
- Issue underwriting standards and guidelines following established company processes
Requirements
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree required
- Licensed and admitted to practice law in the state of employment, in good standing
- 1-4 years of title underwriting experience; commercial real estate experience preferred
- Familiarity with real estate law, including federal and state regulations
- Strong understanding of real estate title and settlement processes
- Excellent analytical skills and business acumen
- Strong negotiation skills with ability to provide alternative solutions and communicate tactfully
- Ability to collaborate effectively and build relationships internally and externally
- Excellent listening, verbal, and written communication skills
- Strong organizational skills with ability to multitask, prioritize, and follow up timely
- Ability to think abstractly and develop creative solutions
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary range: $77,300 to $103,000 annually
- Eligible for bonus pay and/or incentives based on production or other goals; incentives competitive for the Arizona market

Location
- Hybrid role based in Phoenix, Arizona, with remote work options considered for candidates outside the area
