Overview
The organization is seeking an Associate Corporate Counsel, General Litigation to help manage litigation matters and legal risk across the business. This role involves assessing disputes, responding to legal threats, and supporting active litigation, working closely with internal partners, outside counsel, and the Legal Team.
Responsibilities
- Assess lawsuits, demand letters, customer complaints, and other actual or potential legal threats by gathering facts, analyzing issues, and supporting response strategies.
- Draft and review court filings in partnership with outside counsel and support litigation matters from initial assessment through resolution.
- Work with opposing counsel to help resolve disputes and legal threats when appropriate.
- Partner with teams across the organization to identify potential litigation risks and help develop strategies to address exposure.
- Represent the organization in small claims court as needed.
- Support investigations and responses to inquiries from regulators and Attorneys General offices related to customer complaints.
- Provide practical and timely legal guidance on business issues so internal partners understand potential legal considerations and risk.
Requirements
- At least 2 years of relevant litigation experience, preferably at a law firm; in-house experience is a plus.
- Juris Doctor Degree from an American Bar Association-accredited law school with strong academic credentials.
- Active membership in good standing with the Massachusetts Bar or eligibility for admission as in-house counsel in Massachusetts.
- Practical approach to analyzing legal issues, assessing risk, and developing thoughtful solutions.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities while collaborating with teammates and outside counsel.
- Ability to build collaborative relationships with internal partners and communicate clear, actionable legal guidance.
- Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal, and analytical skills, with strong attention to detail and ability to communicate complex legal issues clearly.
Compensation & Benefits
- US base salary range for this full-time position: 141,600.00 USD - 177,000.00 USD, plus bonus, equity, and benefits as applicable.
- Ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The compensation information displayed reflects the range for new hire pay rates for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
