Overview

This is a full-time, permanent, 100% remote position based in North America. The Associate Corporate Counsel, Large Molecule, provides global legal counsel to the Large Molecule Business Unit within the Drug Substance Division. The role involves delivering high-quality commercial, business legal, and compliance advice, as well as transactional support. The position reports to the Director, Corporate Counsel, Large Molecule.

Responsibilities

  • Provide ongoing legal advice and support to the Large Molecule Business Unit, which includes sites in St. Louis, MO; Lengnau, Switzerland; Groningen, The Netherlands; Brisbane, Australia; Plainville, MA; Gosselies, Belgium; Seneffe, Belgium; San Francisco, CA; and Carlsbad, CA.
  • Occasionally support other Business Units within the Drug Substance Division.
  • Establish collaborative working relationships with Business Unit and Site Leadership Teams, Business Management, Sales, Operations, Quality, and other functions to provide timely legal advice on commercial, business, and compliance matters.
  • Collaborate with Contracting and Functional Counsel as needed.
  • Provide advice and support related to biopharmaceutical manufacturing contracts, commercial contracts, supplier and sourcing contracts, proposals, and statements of work, including drafting and review.
  • Offer guidance on legal, regulatory, and compliance matters such as pharmaceutical manufacturing regulations (FDA and other agencies, cGMP), product liability, trade compliance, anti-bribery, and data privacy.
  • Advise supply chain and sourcing teams regarding liability issues from vendor to client.
  • Ensure business operations comply with applicable laws, regulations, and company policies.
  • Provide counsel on customer and commercial disputes and complaints.
  • Assist the Division Lead Counsel on strategic projects as assigned.
  • Manage outside counsel in certain aspects of the Large Molecule business.
  • Lead and collaborate on legal projects and initiatives.
  • Provide training to the organization on various legal matters.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and Juris Doctorate (or equivalent experience).
  • Strong background in Commercial Contract Management within a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.
  • Experience in pharmaceutical, related industries, contract manufacturing, or manufacturing environments is preferred but not essential.
  • Customer-centric approach supporting both external and internal clients while protecting company interests.
  • Proven negotiation skills and strong business acumen.
  • Ability to deliver accurate results with limited resources in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent leadership, management, and interpersonal skills with experience in team building.
  • Strong work ethic and ability to work independently.
  • Self-motivated with minimal supervision required.

  • Willingness to travel approximately 10-15%.

Work Schedule and Environment

  • Standard Monday to Friday schedule.
  • Office environment, though the role is fully remote.
