Overview
This role is for an Associate Counsel to join a legal team in a generalist supporting capacity. The position involves providing comprehensive legal assistance to senior attorneys while gaining experience across multiple areas of healthcare law. The attorney will conduct legal research and writing for legal and clinical/operations teams, review agreements, advise on federal and state healthcare regulations, and manage licensing and regulatory filings related to multi-state, risk-bearing physician group operations, including Medicare and Medicaid compliance. Collaboration with regulatory attorneys on privacy, telemedicine, scope of practice, billing, and coding regulations is expected. The role supports strategic and operational initiatives to ensure legal compliance within a growing healthcare organization.
This opportunity is suited for a mission-driven attorney with 1-3 years of post-JD experience interested in healthcare law and innovative care models for underserved populations.
Responsibilities
- Review and update the organization on new healthcare laws impacting operations.
- Perform legal research and drafting for attorneys and business teams.
- Draft and review various contracts with third parties such as business associates, vendors, consultants, and payor partners.
- Support the People team on employment law issues, including employee relations and managing outside labor and employment counsel.
- Assist the Talent team with employment-related contract negotiations and candidate legal inquiries.
- Draft and review employee-related policies and procedures.
- Assist with corporate matters including board governance, intellectual property, equity administration, and entity management.
- Advise on federal and state healthcare regulations affecting the organization.
- Manage licensing and regulatory filings for a multi-state, risk-bearing physician group.
- Support regulatory team initiatives to address compliance and regulatory requirements.
- Provide generalist legal support to all attorneys through research and writing tasks.
Requirements
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree.
- Admission to the bar in at least one state with the ability to register as in-house counsel in New York.
- 1-3 years of relevant legal experience.
- Strong legal research and writing skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.

Compensation & Benefits
- Salary range: $132,000 - $145,000 annually.
