Overview

A growing omnichannel retail organization is seeking a solution-oriented legal business partner to join their Legal team. This role works closely with the Chief Legal & Development Officer to provide practical, business-focused legal guidance across the company. Responsibilities include supporting a wide range of legal matters such as employment, contracts, compliance, privacy, and dispute resolution, while helping the business scale in a fast-paced retail environment.

This position requires the candidate to be within commuting distance to the Home Office in Manchester, CT, with the possibility of a hybrid work schedule (in-office one or two days per week).

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic legal partnership by translating complex legal issues into clear, actionable business guidance
  • Advise on employment and workforce law matters, including employee relations and compliance for a large, distributed retail workforce
  • Draft and negotiate enterprise contracts across technology, supply chain, and marketing
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements while enabling operational agility
  • Support privacy and cybersecurity initiatives, including data protection and evolving privacy regulations
  • Manage litigation and collaborate with outside counsel to mitigate risk
  • Oversee intellectual property and brand protection across digital and physical channels
  • Drive cross-functional alignment and support the evolution of the legal function

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited U.S. law school
  • 5–8 years of legal experience, either in-house or at a top-tier law firm
  • 3–5+ years of leadership experience
  • Strong knowledge of employment, contract, corporate, and privacy law
  • Expertise in contract drafting, negotiation, and managing complex litigation
  • Excellent communication, judgment, and business partnership skills
  • Must be at least 18 years old

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in retail, omnichannel, or multi-site environments
  • Exposure to supply chain, merchandising, or e-commerce operations
  • Experience supporting high-growth or publicly traded companies
  • Familiarity with privacy frameworks such as CCPA/CPRA and PCI DSS

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base salary range: $200,000 to $275,000
