Overview
An established leader in the Retail & Consumer Goods sector is seeking an Associate General Counsel to join their legal team. This role involves providing strategic and practical legal guidance across the organization, supporting key initiatives, and partnering cross-functionally to drive measurable business outcomes. The position offers the opportunity to influence both strategy and execution within a high-growth, omnichannel retail environment.
Location: Remote (U.S. based candidates only; no visa sponsorship available)
Compensation: $200,000 – $275,000 annually
Responsibilities
- Provide practical, business-focused legal advice across various departments
- Support a broad range of legal matters including employment law, contracts, compliance, privacy, and dispute resolution
- Collaborate closely with executive leadership to influence business strategy and growth
- Shape and develop the legal function within a rapidly expanding omnichannel retail organization
- Translate complex legal issues into clear, actionable guidance for business stakeholders
Requirements
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited U.S. law school
- 5-8 years of legal experience, either in-house or at a top-tier law firm
- 3-5+ years of leadership experience
- Strong knowledge of employment, contract, corporate, and privacy law
- Expertise in contract drafting, negotiation, and managing complex litigation
- Excellent communication, judgment, and business partnership skills
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Experience in retail or consumer goods sectors
- Familiarity with privacy regulations such as CCPA/CPRA
- Knowledge of compliance frameworks and e-commerce operations
- Proficiency with data protection technologies, contract management software, risk management tools, privacy compliance software, collaboration platforms, and case management systems
