Overview
An established blockchain technology organization is seeking an experienced and business-minded attorney to join their Banking and Capital Markets (BCM) team. This role involves leading negotiations of complex commercial and technology agreements with institutional players, top-tier banks, asset managers, broker-dealers, financial market infrastructures (FMIs), and Fortune 100 companies. The attorney will help shape legal strategy to expand the organization's presence across the financial system and enable large-scale tokenization of real-world assets.
This position offers a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of blockchain and traditional finance, delivering mission-critical infrastructure to sophisticated institutions worldwide.
Responsibilities
- Serve as a strategic legal partner to BCM, Product, Engineering, Security, and Infrastructure teams to support delivery of critical technology services across the financial ecosystem.
- Negotiate complex commercial, technology, infrastructure integration, and data licensing agreements with traditional finance clients.
- Lead negotiations of strategic and customized partnership agreements with major players in blockchain and real-world asset industries to develop joint go-to-market strategies while protecting intellectual property assets.
- Apply a strong understanding of regulatory and compliance frameworks relevant to technology service providers for FMIs, including operational resilience, data protection, DORA, EBA outsourcing guidelines, and cybersecurity requirements.
Requirements
- Minimum 10 years of post-qualification experience (PQE) in legal practice, with foundational training at a top-tier law firm in corporate or transactional law.
- At least 3 years of in-house legal experience at a technology company, focusing on structuring and negotiating commercial agreements.
- Proven track record of independently leading complex commercial and corporate transactions, particularly in technology, payments, and finance sectors.
- Solid background in financial services, including experience working with or within regulated financial services firms and familiarity with financial regulations applicable to digital assets.
- Licensed to practice law or equivalent in the US or UK, or possession of an LLM from these jurisdictions.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with digital asset regulation, blockchain infrastructure, and tokenized assets.
- Experience supporting legal aspects of go-to-market strategies or cross-border technology deployments.
