Overview

Position Title: Associate General Counsel
Base Salary: $162,660 to $195,000 annually, depending on experience
Bonus: Target annual bonus
Location: Kirkland, WA (Hybrid role; requires three days per week in office)

This role provides strategic legal support across various business areas, focusing on franchise agreements, pole attachment/joint use agreements, regulatory compliance, litigation management, and supporting local government affairs.

Responsibilities

  • Advise on telecommunications legal and regulatory issues, including FCC regulations and state public utility laws
  • Draft, review, and negotiate contracts such as franchise agreements, pole attachment/joint use agreements, and agreements with municipal and infrastructure organizations
  • Manage and oversee litigation matters related to telecommunications services, contracts, and regulatory compliance; coordinate with outside counsel as needed
  • Assist with mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, and other corporate transactions by providing legal analysis and guidance
  • Provide risk management advice by identifying potential legal risks and recommending mitigation strategies
  • Support compliance with licensing, permitting, and regulatory approvals across jurisdictions
  • Collaborate with internal teams including regulatory affairs, government relations, and business development to align legal strategies with business goals
  • Support local government affairs teams in municipal relations
  • Assist in developing internal policies and participate in advocacy on telecommunications-related legislative and regulatory matters
  • Perform other duties as required to support the business and organizational needs

Required Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school and admission to a state bar
  • Minimum of 8 years of legal experience, with significant time advising clients in telecommunications or related fields
  • In-depth knowledge of telecommunications law, including regulatory and transactional matters
  • Proven experience drafting and negotiating contracts and agreements
  • Strong litigation experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of interacting with senior leadership and external stakeholders
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with a focus on pragmatic, business-minded solutions

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with or within a large telecommunications company or provider
  • Familiarity with emerging telecommunications technologies and their legal implications (e.g., 5G, broadband expansion)
