Overview

A global leader in Continuous Threat Exposure Management (CTEM) is seeking an Associate General Counsel - Global Commercial Lead. This role involves leading and scaling the global commercial legal function to support enterprise expansion, international growth, and AI-driven product innovation. The position reports to the Chief Legal Officer and focuses on establishing legal frameworks, systems, and leadership to enable faster and smarter growth.

Location

  • Remote role with candidates preferred within approximately 50 miles of one of the following locations:
    • UK: London
    • USA: Seattle, San Francisco Bay Area, Austin, Washington DC, or Boston

Responsibilities

Global Commercial Strategy & Execution

  • Own and scale the global commercial legal function across North America, EMEA, and APAC.
  • Establish commercial risk standards and negotiation frameworks balancing enterprise growth with governance.
  • Serve as final decision authority on commercial risk within defined thresholds, collaborating with the CLO on enterprise-level matters.
  • Support complex enterprise transactions across regulated industries and international markets.

Department Leadership & Scale

  • Build and develop a high-performing, multi-jurisdictional team covering commercial, privacy, and procurement legal support.
  • Scale leadership capabilities within the function, creating succession depth and operational independence.
  • Design the legal operating model to support international expansion and product growth.

Legal Operations & AI-Enabled Modernization

  • Develop an AI-first legal operations strategy leveraging AI for contract review, knowledge management, and workflow automation.
  • Implement data-driven decision making by establishing KPIs for contract cycle time, risk trends, and negotiation performance.
  • Apply first principles problem solving to simplify legacy processes and redesign commercial workflows for scalability.

Cross-Functional Executive Partnership

  • Collaborate with Sales, Go-To-Market, Finance, Security, and Product leadership to accelerate deal velocity while maintaining integrity.
  • Guide the organization through product launches, regulatory changes, and global expansion with agility and operational clarity.
  • Translate company strategy into department priorities, systems, and measurable outcomes.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Qualified lawyer in the UK/EU or US.
  • 12+ years of legal experience, including significant in-house leadership in technology or SaaS environments.
  • Proven experience leading a commercial legal function or major sub-function at scale.
  • Extensive experience negotiating complex, cross-border enterprise agreements.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting regulated industries such as financial services, healthcare, defense, or public sector.
  • Experience building global legal infrastructure in high-growth or international expansion settings.
  • Experience implementing legal technology and AI-enabled workflow tools.
  • Experience managing external counsel budgets and vendor risk governance.

Compensation

UK

  • London: £175,000 to £195,000 plus equity

USA

  • San Francisco Bay Area (Tier A): $280,000 to $320,000 plus equity
  • Seattle, Austin, Washington DC, Boston (Tier B): $250,000 to $285,000 plus equity
