Overview
This role involves serving as an Associate General Counsel within a fast-growing technology company focused on modernizing veterinary software and pet healthcare. The organization supports over 25,000 veterinary hospitals nationwide with platforms including a procurement marketplace, home delivery ecommerce, and practice management systems. The legal team is integral to business operations, working across commercial, regulatory, and product matters in a highly regulated industry.
Responsibilities
- Draft, review, negotiate, and manage a variety of commercial contracts such as SaaS agreements, master service agreements (MSAs), statements of work (SOWs), order forms, non-disclosure agreements (NDAs), data processing agreements (DPAs), vendor and distribution agreements, and partnership contracts
- Collaborate closely with business leadership, product, operations, and finance teams to support enterprise deals and strategic initiatives
- Provide legal advice on product development and launches, identifying risks and offering practical, business-focused solutions
- Develop expertise in legal areas relevant to the business, including telecommunications, consumer protection, privacy, FDA and DEA regulations, veterinary practice and pharmacy laws, ecommerce, marketplace regulation, and compliance frameworks
- Translate complex legal and regulatory requirements into actionable guidance for product, engineering, operations, and business teams
- Support strategic growth initiatives involving new products, markets, commercial models, and regulated workflows
Requirements
- 5-8 years of legal experience, including time at a top-tier law firm
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school and active membership in at least one U.S. state bar
- Strong experience in commercial contracting, particularly with SaaS, technology, enterprise customers, MSAs, SOWs, order forms, DPAs, and vendor agreements
- Excellent drafting, negotiation, and issue-spotting skills with exceptional attention to detail
- Demonstrated strong work ethic and willingness to deeply engage with the business
- Experience advising high-growth technology companies, SaaS businesses, regulated industries, or enterprise software firms
- Curiosity and enthusiasm for learning evolving regulatory frameworks and translating them into practical business guidance
- Proactive, ownership-oriented mindset with a focus on problem-solving
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in or with regulated markets such as veterinary practice, pharmacy, or healthcare technology
- Ability to work cross-functionally and understand complex product and regulatory environments
Compensation & Benefits
- Base salary range: $180,000 to $230,000 per year (may vary by location; Colorado range specified)
