Overview
An organization in the Finance & Insurance sector is seeking an Associate General Counsel specializing in Privacy & Data Protection. This role involves driving impactful initiatives, partnering cross-functionally to deliver measurable outcomes, and influencing both strategy and execution within a high-growth environment.
Location: Remote (U.S. based candidates only; no visa sponsorship available)
Compensation: $267,070 – $314,200 annually
Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and scale the privacy program in partnership with Privacy Operations
- Provide privacy legal advice to product teams
- Monitor global data protection laws and translate them into actionable guidance
- Participate in cross-functional projects related to data governance
- Respond to privacy incidents and regulatory inquiries in collaboration with Security
- Oversee drafting and updates of privacy-related notices and policies
- Collaborate with teams to implement customer-centric product designs
Requirements
- Minimum 8 years as a practicing attorney with at least 5 years of substantive privacy experience
- Juris Doctor (JD) or equivalent; license to practice law in the U.S. preferred
- Expertise in U.S. and international privacy laws such as CCPA/CPRA and Brazil LGPD
- Strong people and project management skills to facilitate cross-functional collaboration
- Ability to distill complex legal issues into clear, concise guidance
- Experience engaging with government agencies on privacy matters
- Passion for data protection law and technology policy advocacy
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Knowledge of privacy regulations including CCPA, CPRA, PIPEDA, LGPD, GLBA
- Familiarity with certifications such as CIPP
- Experience with data governance tools, privacy incident response systems
- Understanding of KYC/AML compliance software and regulatory compliance tracking software
