Overview
A technology company specializing in real-time location platforms is seeking a senior attorney with over 7 years of practicing experience to join a small, collaborative legal team. The role focuses on complex commercial transactions involving data in-licenses, customer sales, and automotive OEM deals, requiring close collaboration with product and engineering teams.
Responsibilities
- Provide legal counsel on complex commercial deals, including data in-licenses and sales/OEM agreements.
- Collaborate with product and engineering teams to understand technical implementations and customer use cases.
- Draft, negotiate, and manage contracts with a focus on practical and creative solutions.
- Own the deal process, balancing risk mitigation with business needs.
- Continuously improve operational processes and update legal forms to support scaling of the legal department.
- Participate in a fast-paced, remote work environment, contributing to a variety of legal issues.
Requirements
- Minimum 7 years of practicing attorney experience.
- At least 2 years at a top-tier law firm and 5+ years in-house at a technology company focusing on sales-side commercial transactions.
- JD degree from a top-tier law school and active membership in at least one U.S. state bar.
- Technical background demonstrated by at least one of the following:
- Degree in computer engineering, computer science, or a related technical field.
- 2 to 4 years of experience in software patent litigation or patent prosecution at a top-tier firm.
- Extensive experience working with APIs and SDKs.
- Strong experience handling complex sales deals.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Practical, customer-centric negotiation style with the ability to understand business priorities.
- Ability to work effectively in a fully remote legal team; preference for candidates in the Pacific time zone.
- A sense of humor and willingness to collaborate and take feedback.

Compensation & Benefits
- Total annual cash compensation ranges from $240,000 to $310,000.
- Final compensation depends on qualifications, experience, potential impact, role scope, market demands, and work location.

- This is a fully remote position within the United States.
