Overview
A growing omnichannel retail organization is seeking a solution-oriented legal business partner to join their Legal team. This role works closely with the Chief Legal & Development Officer to provide practical, business-focused legal guidance across the company. The position supports a wide range of legal matters including employment, contracts, compliance, privacy, and dispute resolution, helping the business scale in a fast-paced retail environment.
This role requires the candidate to be within commuting distance of the Home Office in Manchester, CT, with a hybrid work schedule option (in-office 1-2 days per week).
Responsibilities
- Provide strategic legal partnership by translating complex legal issues into clear, actionable business guidance
- Advise on employment and workforce law matters, including employee relations and compliance for a large, distributed retail workforce
- Draft and negotiate enterprise contracts across technology, supply chain, and marketing
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements while enabling operational agility
- Support privacy and cybersecurity initiatives, including data protection and evolving privacy regulations
- Manage litigation and collaborate with outside counsel to mitigate risk
- Oversee intellectual property and brand protection across digital and physical channels
- Drive cross-functional alignment and support the evolution of the legal function
Requirements
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited U.S. law school
- 5–8 years of legal experience (in-house or top-tier law firm)
- 3–5+ years of leadership experience
- Strong knowledge of employment, contract, corporate, and privacy law
- Expertise in contract drafting, negotiation, and managing complex litigation
- Excellent communication, judgment, and business partnership skills
- Must be at least 18 years old
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in retail, omnichannel, or multi-site environments
- Exposure to supply chain, merchandising, or e-commerce operations
- Experience supporting high-growth or publicly traded companies
- Familiarity with privacy frameworks such as CCPA/CPRA and PCI DSS
Compensation & Benefits
- Base salary range: $200,000 to $275,000
