Overview

This role provides legal support in general corporate and commercial matters, including contract negotiation and management and regulatory compliance. The Associate Counsel will help mitigate legal risk while considering business and operational needs.

Responsibilities

  • Advise on legal issues relating to business practices.
  • Review, draft, and assist in the negotiation of contracts and agreements, corporate policies, and standard operating procedures.
  • Assist with regulatory compliance matters.
  • Review and update confidentiality agreements.
  • Assist in developing legal training materials.
  • Support maintenance of executed agreements and other corporate documents.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree required (Engineering or other technical degrees are a plus).
  • Juris Doctorate required.
  • Must be a licensed attorney and in good standing to practice law in the United States.
  • Previous legal experience is a plus, but not required.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, multi-cultural environment.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with sound judgment and meticulous attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Spanish/Japanese bilingual abilities and/or experience living in Japan or working with Japanese companies.
  • Ability to work at least one day a week from one of the following facilities (if applicable): Schaumburg, IL; Dayton, OH; Fraser, MI; Bellaire, MI; or Queretaro, Mexico.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary range: $63,000 - $68,000 per year, based on experience.

Location

  • 100% remote is available.
  • Ability to travel up to 5% annually (globally) for meetings and conferences.
