Overview
An organization focused on advancing conservative reforms at state and federal levels is seeking an Associate Legal Fellow. This role involves conducting legal research, assisting in drafting legislative and executive documents, and tracking court cases and policy developments nationwide, with emphasis on Florida and other priority states.
The legal team produces work that contributes to legislation, executive orders, and amicus briefs. The position offers the opportunity to tackle complex legal questions, collaborate with experts, and influence lawmaking. Daily tasks may include drafting legislative provisions, filing public comments on administrative rules, and analyzing policy at various government levels.
A Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree is required. Recent law graduates and attorneys with up to three years of experience in legal research, policy, or litigation are encouraged to apply.
Responsibilities
- Conduct research on state and federal laws related to priority reforms and produce memos, one-pagers, amicus brief contributions, and presentation materials for internal and external stakeholders.
- Source and verify legal citations, summarize litigation documents, and draft legal products for state and federal contexts.
- Assist in drafting legislation, executive orders, regulations, agency comments, and sub-regulatory guidance to support reform efforts.
- Research existing legislative language to create legally sound and jurisdictionally accurate drafts for deployment by government affairs and policy teams.
- Maintain a tracker of relevant state and federal court cases, identifying parallel litigation across federal courts.
- Lead multi-state policy surveys, ensure timely completion of survey requests, and keep policy tracking charts accurate and current.
Requirements
- J.D. degree required; admission to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction or eligibility for admission within a reasonable timeframe.
- 0–3 years of experience in legal research, policy drafting, litigation support, or related legal work.
- Exceptional legal writing skills with the ability to translate complex statutory and regulatory material into clear, actionable documents.
- Proficiency with AI tools for legal research, drafting, and review.
- Ability to work fully remotely with availability for four in-person, all-team meetings per year.

Compensation and Benefits
- Salary range: $75,000–$95,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
