Overview

This role is primarily remote within the state of Minnesota, with required appearances throughout the state. The position involves representing the organization and its policyholders in moderately complex civil litigation matters, including claims for monetary damages or compensation for personal injuries or property damage of moderate value. The role offers a client-focused environment with opportunities to manage cases from inception through resolution under moderate supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all phases of litigation including discovery, hearings, trials, mediations, and drafting legal documents such as pleadings and motions.
  • Support senior counsel in all aspects of case handling through trial.
  • Provide clear legal opinions and strategic advice to Claims Representatives and insured clients.
  • Develop and maintain strong client relationships through effective communication.
  • Utilize e-discovery and case management technologies to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Coordinate effectively with remote team members.
  • Identify, evaluate, and collaborate on strategies to mitigate legal risks.
  • Ensure all legal documents are accurate, compliant, and meet client expectations.
  • Provide timely updates and recommendations to insured clients and claims professionals.
  • Participate in initiatives to enhance efficiency and best practices within the legal team.
  • Uphold the highest standards of legal ethics and compliance.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (JD) or LLB degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the Minnesota bar and in good standing; special licenses to practice before particular boards or federal courts may be required.
  • General knowledge of insurance law, and as necessary, workers’ compensation and/or No Fault law.
  • Proficiency in e-discovery, case management systems, and basic legal analysis tools.
  • Strong analytical, research, and legal writing skills.
  • Basic knowledge of negotiation techniques including preparation, active listening, and problem-solving.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage cases from start to finish under supervision.
  • Effective written and oral communication and persuasion skills.
  • Ability to collaborate with clients, claims professionals, and senior attorneys.
  • Organized, process-oriented with strong time management skills.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Typical starting salary range: $117,000 - $130,000.
  • Eligible for performance bonuses.
  • 20 days of flexible time off annually plus personal holidays.
  • 401(k) plan with matching contributions.
