Overview

This primarily remote role is based in the state of California, with occasional required appearances. The position involves representing the organization and its policyholders in workers' compensation claims of moderate value. Responsibilities

  • Manage all phases of litigation including discovery, hearings, trials, mediations, and drafting legal documents such as pleadings and motions.
  • Support Senior Trial Counsel and Senior Litigation Counsel throughout case handling and trial preparation.
  • Provide clear legal opinions and strategic advice to Claims Representatives and insured clients.
  • Develop and maintain strong client relationships through effective communication.
  • Utilize e-discovery and case management technologies to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Coordinate effectively with remote team members and demonstrate proficiency in remote work settings.
  • Identify and evaluate legal risks and collaborate on mitigation strategies with clients and senior counsel.
  • Ensure accuracy and compliance of all legal documents and pleadings.
  • Provide timely updates and recommendations to insured clients and claims professionals.
  • Participate in initiatives to enhance efficiency and best practices within the legal organization.
  • Uphold the highest standards of legal ethics and compliance, promoting integrity within the legal team.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (JD) or LLB degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the California bar and in good standing; special licenses to practice before particular boards or federal courts may be required.
  • General knowledge of insurance law, with familiarity in workers’ compensation and/or No Fault law preferred.
  • Proficiency in e-discovery, case management systems, and basic legal analysis tools.
  • Strong analytical, research, and legal writing skills.
  • Basic negotiation skills including preparation, active listening, and problem-solving.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage cases from inception through resolution under supervision.
  • Effective written and oral communication and persuasion skills.
  • Ability to collaborate with clients, claims professionals, and senior attorneys.
  • Organized, process-oriented with strong time management skills.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Starting salary range is determined by factors including skills, experience, education, certifications, and location.
  • Compensation plans may include commission and/or bonus earnings based on multiple factors.

  • Primarily remote within the state of California, with required appearances as needed.
