Overview

A dynamic law firm specializing in probate administration and litigation is seeking experienced civil litigators to join their team. This full-time role offers the opportunity to work remotely from anywhere in the U.S., with optional hybrid office time for those based in or relocating to Arizona. Candidates licensed in Arizona or those licensed in other U.S. jurisdictions who are willing to pursue Arizona admission by motion or UBE score transfer are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

  • Manage informal and formal probate dockets.
  • Handle litigation involving will contests, trust disputes, breach of fiduciary duty, and related matters.
  • Draft pleadings, review pleadings prepared by support staff, and conduct legal research.
  • Take and defend depositions; appear at hearings, mediations, and trials.
  • Work closely with clients dealing with grief, complex family dynamics, and inheritance issues, providing clear legal guidance.
  • Collaborate with a team using modern systems and workflows to maintain efficient case progress.

Typical Matters

  • Oversee informal and formal probate caseloads, ensuring paralegals prepare accurate documents and pleadings are reviewed and approved.
  • Handle will contests involving capacity, undue influence, or alleged fraud.
  • Manage trust and estate disputes related to trustee misconduct, accounting issues, or distribution conflicts.
  • Represent clients in contested guardianship or conservatorship proceedings, including removal or appointment issues.
  • Advise personal representatives and trustees aiming to fulfill their duties properly and avoid liability.

Qualifications

  • Licensed to practice law in Arizona and in good standing, or willing to pursue Arizona admission by motion or UBE score transfer.
  • Minimum of 3 years of civil litigation experience, including state court motion practice, discovery, and hearings; trial experience is a plus.
  • Strong writing and oral advocacy skills; comfortable in courtroom settings and direct client interactions.
  • Highly organized and proactive with the ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines effectively.
  • Emotionally intelligent, capable of managing conflict and maintaining productive conversations amid family tensions.
  • Prior probate, trust, or estate experience is advantageous but not required; a strong interest in developing expertise in this niche is essential.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary range: $120,000 to $150,000, depending on experience.
